Under federal law, we are required to give you this privacy notice, it describes our Credit Union’s privacy policy and practices concerning the personal information we collect and disclose about our members. It also includes information about the parties who receive personal and sometimes nonpublic information from us as we conduct the business of the Credit Union.

How We Protect Your Information

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical electronic or procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

What Members Can Do To Help

M-NCPPC Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of its members. Members can help by following these simple guidelines:

  • Protect your account numbers, any personal identification numbers or passwords.
  • Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers etc., to other persons. If someone calls you explaining the call is on behalf of the Credit Union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Credit Union staff will have access to your information and will not need to ask for it.
  • Keep your information with us current. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately.

Information We Collect About You

We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on your applications and other forms
  • Information about your transactions with us
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
  • Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or other forms; this may be obtained from your current of past employers or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions.

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, as permitted by law.

Parties Who Receive Information From Us

We may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to the following types of third parties;

  • Financial service providers, such as insurance companies, mortgage service companies and securities broker-dealers
  • Non-financial companies, such as consumer reporting agencies, data processors, check/share draft printers, financial statement publishers/printers, plastic card processors, government agencies and mail houses.

Disclosure Or Information To Parties That Provide Services To Us

In order for us to conduct the business of the Credit Union, we may disclose all of the information we collect as described above, to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements, to other companies that perform marketing services on our behalf, or to non-affiliated third parties for the purposes of processing and servicing transactions that you request or authorize, so that we may provide members competitive products and services.

We may also disclose nonpublic personal information about you under circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our Credit Union, follow your instructions as you authorize or protect the security of our financial records.

To protect our members’ privacy, we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information you provide. We do not permit these companies to sell the information we provide to other third parties.

If you terminate your membership with M-NCPPC Federal Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.

Online Privacy Information

We are committed to protecting our clients’ financial privacy. When you visit our web site we want you to feel secure that your information is protected. We want clients to know what information our web site collects and how we use that information. Please read the following helpful information so you feel confident that your personal information is secure while online.

Tracking information that does not personally identify you is collected when you visit our web site. Collected information includes the internet service provider identifier, the internet address of the web site you came from prior to visiting our site, the pages visited while at our site, the date and time of the visit, and the internet address you went to when leaving our site. This information is used to track our web site’s use including which pages are visited most often and the length of the visit. We have procedures and guidelines in place to protect this information from unauthorized use. This information is not available to third parties without proper authorization under the guidelines of the law.

Sending E-mail

E-mail sent to us may not be secure. Therefore, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as social security number, or account numbers to us via an unsecured e-mail. Such communications should be sent to us via U.S. mail or you may call us or visit one of our branches.

Access to Your Accounts

Client information collected from transactions and forms completed through our online banking service are handled with the same high privacy standards as a transaction that is completed at a banking office. In most cases, information you provide on electronic forms through our web site is encrypted. In other words, it is scrambled en route and decrypted once it reaches our web site. As a security measure, you may access your account information from our web site only after you have signed up for the service and received your user ID and password. Account information provided to you will be scrambled en route and decrypted once it reaches your browser. We recommend that you complete your online transaction and log off prior to visiting other sites.

How do I know if I’m using a secure site?

Two ways determine whether the web site you are viewing is secure or not:

  • A ‘s’ at the end of http indicates you are connected to a secure server using secure socket layer technology. Any web page beginning with https:// is a secure site. 
  • If you are using Microsoft’s browser Internet Explorer version 3.0 or higher you will notice a small pad lock in the lower right hand corner of the browser window if you are connected to a secure site. Likewise, with Netscape Navigator version 4.0 or higher a key will be visible if you are connected to a secure site.If either the lock or key is open or appears broken, the site you are viewing is not secure.

What is Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology?

SSL is encryption technology that verifies the identity of your computer for secure communications over the Internet. It also encrypts all transactions between the parties communicating.

What is encryption?

Encryption is software technology that scrambles information when it is sent over the Internet. Personal and account information passing between your computer and the bank’s is encrypted. This means that data in transit is unreadable until it reaches the bank’s computer and is unscrambled. We recommend the use of 128-bit encrypted browser due to the increased level of security.

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer by a web site. This file lets the web site recognize if your computer has visited the site before. The site that sent the cookie is the only site that can read the cookie. The primary use of cookies is to personalize the web site to your own preferences.

What else do I need to know to protect my privacy and enhance my online experience? 

If you use our online banking products you have a user ID and password. Do not reveal them to anyone. Commit them to memory or place them in a secure place that no one else has access to.

Don’t leave your computer unattended and once you have completed your banking session always sign off by using exit or log-off buttons. This is especially important if you are using a public computer.
